But educators and cognitive scientists are raising a red flag: this unprecedented convenience may be quietly stifling the development of critical thinking, the very skill needed to navigate an increasingly complex world.

The promise was efficiency. The reality, however, may be a Faustian bargain. As a generation weans itself on instant AI-generated answers, a fundamental question emerges: what happens to the cognitive struggle essential for building intellectual resilience? The concern isn’t that AI will become sentient, but that humans might become complacent.

4. Strengthen foundational knowledge.
AI is excellent at manipulating information, but it lacks genuine understanding. A strong foundation of core knowledge in a domain is what allows a human to spot AI’s errors and push its insights further. You can’t critically evaluate an AI-generated legal brief if you don’t know the basics of the law.
